I currently use a PDA with a Socket Scanner when I go to book sales. I've listed some equipment below if you wish make your own scanner package .
- Socket Somo PDA: This is a bit pricey, but it's more durable and reliable than the Dell Axim X51
- Dell Axim X51v PDA: This is the most cost effective PDA at $80-120 for a used model.
- Socket Scan Card 5E2: A powerful class one laser with a one year factory warranty.
- 4 GB Memory Card: This is enough memory to hold the data of over 7 million books in the Amazon catalog. If you get a Dell Axim X51 PDA, you will want to use a 2 GB memory card.
If you're interested in buying a package that's already to go…keep reading. There are a couple companies that I recommend.
ASellerTool
They offer a PDA or Android scanner package. More importantly, these are local database scanners. That means all of the data in stored in a memory card, so you don't have to worry about getting a good internet connection.
You can view the scanner packages on their website or on eBay.
Neatoscan
This company offers a PDA or Android version as well. Just like Asellertool, Neatoscan's software runs on a local database to ensure fast scanning.
You can view the scanner packages on their website.
