Buy Low on eBay Sell High on Amazon

March 22, 2012 by Nathan Holmquist 4 Comments

Here’s a strategy that I use quite a bit:  Buying on eBay and selling the same item on Amazon FBA for a premium price.  In other words, buy low on eBay sell high on Amazon (BLESHA).  For example, here is a Dell Axim X51v PDA that I purchased on eBay for $72.95.

Dell Axim X51 PDA

I sent it to Amazon FBA and listed it for over $150.  The Dell Axim PDA sold 22 days after I listed it on Amazon for $150.  After fees, I made $134.89.  That's an 85% return on investment with a $62 profit.

    Hey Nathan,

I notice you live in the Seattle area. I live in Kirkland,WA. I’m completely new to FBA and this all intrigues me (been selling on Ebay for years). have you had any issues with not being allowed to have scanners at book sales? I haven’t been to a big one yet (to be honest, I thought there would be more around and booksalefinder doesn’t seem to list as many as I thought there would be in WA).

    thanks!

    Hi Brent,

I’m actually in North Carolina right now, but yes BookSaleFinder doesn’t post many book sales in the Seattle area.

I would recommend doing your own research by calling libraries in the area and asking when their book sales are. Or try the website booksalesfound.info

Most book sales still allow scanners from my experience.

    Nathan –

Don’t you need to subtract the orginal cost of %72.95 from $134.89(the total after Amazon fees) for a true profit of $61.94?

    Molly,

Well, I said it was a $62 profit, so I guess I was pretty close:)
